Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, has initiated investigation on five police persons.

Kathmandu, Jan 31 (RSS): Police persons, who are mandated to stop crimes, are themselves suspected in two separate crimes perpetrated in the Kathmandu Valley.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati, Inspector Laxman Thakuri, and Sub Inspector Chandra Bhandari stationed at Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbar Marg, have been accused of hushing the gang rape of a girl in the Landmark Hotel of the capital.


Spokesperson at Metropolitan Range, Superintendent of Police Ram Dutt Joshi informed that a probe was begun on the accused police officers by transferring them from their duty station.
A youth named Shailesh Karki has been accused of gang-raping the girl by also involving three of his friends in the heinous act.


The police officers were dragged into controversy after the accused ones reconciled with the rape survivor by alluring with money in such serious crime. Spokesperson Joshi said that efforts were on to contact the survivor.

The investigation so far has shown that the victim had not filed a written complaint at police office. Further information would be garnered after recording the statement of the victim girl.

Meanwhile, in the incident of raid in gambling, two police persons have been accused of freeing those involved in the gambling. They are Sub Inspector of Police, Mohan Bahadur Malla and constable Manohar Budha. The gamblers were reportedly left after taking the money they had with them.
The raid was conducted at a gambling den in a hotel of Kalanki.
